Angela is at the end her first week of fieldwork in an outpatient pediatric clinic. This morning, instead of getting out a scooter board for her first session, she accidentally got out a bingo game she had planned for a client later in the morning. As she was setting up the bingo game, her CI Jessa reminded her to check the treatment plan. Angela realized her mistake and got out the scooter board. She started her session a few minutes late. At lunchtime, all of the therapists and students were eating and writing notes at the tables in the clinic space. Jessa said, “Angela, you made us run behind all morning.” Angela apologized, but Jessa continued, “I mean, you really can’t do that again, the kids’ families get impatient and it makes them late to their other therapies.” Angela felt frustrated with herself, and started to notice the others at the table awkwardly glancing over at her. She felt her face turn red- she really didn’t want to be having this conversation in front of the whole staff!
