. Michael is in Week 7 in Level II fieldwork in acute care at a community hospital. One day, Michael was on his way in to the staff office and through the closed door, he could hear his CI, Lisa, and one of the other therapists loudly complaining about him. They were ridiculing an activity he had chosen during a co-treat that morning. Michael had felt the session went well. The patient was able to sit at the edge of the bed longer than previous sessions, and their vital signs were stable the entire time. Neither Lisa nor the physical therapist had given him feedback after the session. Michael was shocked, angry, and hurt. He walked away from the closed door and finished his documentation in a conference room. As Lisa left the building that evening, she cheerfully wished Michael a good night. Michael could hardly look up from his tablet. He cried in his car on the way home. The next morning he did not want to go to the hospital and had a knot in his stomach. Lisa was in the office assigning making the department schedule, and the rest of the staff was due to come in to work in about an hour. Michael knew he would not be able to concentrate on patient care if he didn’t talk to Lisa about what happened.
