You have already accomplished so much by getting into OT school and the late nights and lab practicals that came with it. Add in work, family responsibilities, relationships, and friendships and there was no doubt a lot for you to juggle! You may have been able to balance it all during graduate school after you knew what to expect. Going from classes to full-time fieldwork is a big change and the challenges and stresses are different. Don’t forget about the power of engaging in valued occupations during fieldwork. Evidence shows that what OT students do for self-care is more important than how long they spend doing it. That means choosing to spend some time in a way that is enjoyable, healing, and most importantly, meaningful for YOU. Your well-being is important now, just as it will be when you become an OT and throughout your entire life.
